Lebanese FM asks to be relieved of his duties

BEIRUT, Lebanon's caretaker Foreign Minister Charbel Wahbe, on Wednesday, submitted his resignation to President Michel Aoun, asking to be relieved of his duties.

In a statement, the Lebanese Presidency said that minister Wahbe had submitted a request to step down from his duties in light of the recent developments and the circumstances that accompanied the interview he gave to a television station.

The Lebanese minister had an interview with Al-Hurra TV, which sparked a great controversy due to his statements against the Gulf States, which led to a large wave of condemnation locally and abroad.
