Marking International Day of Persons with Disabilities, marathons kick off in several provinces

Provinces – Foundation of Special Olympics Syria organized a marathon in Sewida, Tartous and Hama provinces on the occasion of International Day of People with Disability (IDPWD) which falls on December 3rd.

The marathon kicked off in Sweida province with the participation of 50 children with disabilities along with their families from al-Basel roundabout to al-Mazraa Sports City.

Meanwhile, a marathon was launched in Tartous, setting off from the Festival Square to end at the Medical Point Center on the Corniche as the participants crossed 400 meters.

In Hama, more than 500 players participated in the marathon.

The participants of children’s families pointed the importance of these activities in order to integrate the people with disabilities with the society ,  discover their abilities and bring together children, adolescent and youths.
