During an inspection tour at Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport, Caretaker Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Bassam Mawlawi, underscored the crucial role played by the airport security apparatus, stating, “Thanks to the heroes of the airport security apparatus, we have met the needs of citizens.”

He further commented, “Had a cyber breach occurred at any airport worldwide, the situation would have been much worse by now.”

Moreover, Mawlawi stressed the necessity of thorough investigations. “Investigations must yield results because what happened concerns aviation security, citizen safety, and national security,’ he stated.

The Interior Minister also highlighted the challenging conditions under which aviation operates today, emphasizing the need for a cyber security system.

“We are working on a necessary plan for the airport and its safety, and the Council of Ministers is prepared to facilitate the adoption of this plan,’ he added.

“It is highly likely that the breach was external, but inv
