Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, has affirmed that the enemies of Syria are trying in vain to reach their goals through the suffocating siege after they failed to achieve them through terrorism, stressing that all these attempts, whether economic or military, are doomed to failure.

Mikdad’s remarks came during his meeting yesterday evening with the Syrian community members in Algeria and the Syrian diplomatic staff at the headquarters of the Syrian embassy.

Mikdad referred to the great challenges that Syria is facing, as the Turkish regime is trying to expand its occupation in the northwest and supports terrorist groups from Jabhat al-Nusra, Daesh (ISIS) and others, while the United States is supporting separatist groups in the northeast.

He stressed that all attempts to pressure Syria will fail because of the steadfastness of the Syrian Arab people and their leadership, and the heroism and sacrifices of their valiant army.

For his part, Syrian ambassador to Algeria, Dr. Namir al-Ghanim, affirmed that Syria has demonstrated its ability to defeat terrorism and thwart all foreign plots against it.

Mikdad visited Algeria to participate in its celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Independence Day, where he was received yesterday by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra.
