New committee seeks to boost pandemic-related response-JCDC

The “Preparedness and Response” Committee operating within “One Health” approach held its first meeting at the Jordanian National Centre for Epidemics and Communicable Diseases Control (JCDC), according to a center’s statement issued Sunday. The committee, which was formed by JCDC, aims to develop public health practices in the field of preventing and orchestrating coordination efforts to fight pandemics and communicable diseases, including bioterrorist threat, the statement said. The committee also seeks to deepen cooperation and partnership among government and official agencies and the competent authorities to address health emergencies, by ensuring preparedness and response within the “One Health” policy. Representatives of various government institutions and the private sector, including ministries of health, interior, environment, agriculture, and water, as well as Jordanian Royal Medical Services (JMRS), National Centre for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM), Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) and the Private Hospitals Association (PHA) participated in the meeting Addressing the meeting, the committee’s head, JCDC chairman, Raeda Qutob, highlighted the newly-launched panel’s goals, tasks and work mechanism, adding that competent authorities will implement the committee’s evidence-based recommendations, aimed to curbing spread of infectious diseases and pandemics and control them within “One Health” policy.
