Jerusalem – Palestinian families have accused Israeli authorities of delaying the release of prisoners, specifically mentioning the case of Israa Jaabis from Jerusalem. This allegation comes amid the expected prisoner swap deal between Hamas and Israel.

According to Jordan News Agency, Jaabis’ family stated on Saturday that Israeli police have detained Jaabis since the afternoon, obstructing the family’s plans to receive her as part of the prisoner swap deal. The family expressed frustration and tension due to the uncertainty surrounding her release. They emphasized their immediate concern to receive Israa and proceed with her medical treatment for severe burns she sustained in 2015 when her car caught fire. Israeli police have accused Jaabis of attempting to attack Israeli soldiers during the incident, which resulted in her losing eight fingers and receiving an 11-year prison sentence.
