The skies of the Kingdom will witness the last partial lunar eclipse of 2023 on Saturday, October 28, according to fellow of the British Royal Astronomical Society Imad Mujahid. The eclipse is scheduled to start at 10:35 p.m. when the Earth’s shadow will begin to move over the eastern part of the moon’s disk. The middle of the eclipse, which is the peak hour, will be reached at 11:14 p.m., and only about 6% of the moon’s disk will be in Earth’s shadow. The eclipse will then end at 11:52 p.m. on Saturday evening when the moon emerges from the shadow. The eclipse will be visible in all stages in the skies of Central Asia, the Arabian Gulf, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa, added Mujahid. He went on to say that a lunar eclipse is a natural astronomical phenomenon that occurs when the moon enters the Earth’s shadow during its rotation. The phenomenon only happens when the moon is full, and the Earth is positioned between the sun and the moon. The eclipse can be partial when part of the moon’s disk enters the Earth’s shadow or total when the entire moon’s disk enters the Earth’s shadow, turning its color to dark red.
