Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala el Saeed reviewed during a weekly meeting of the cabinet in New Alamein City on Thursday 25/8/2022 the progress rate of the National Project for Egyptian Family Development.

She said the project was launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in February of 2022 and came into force on July 1. The first stage, which takes three years to be completed, targets 1,580 villages in 20 governorates.

The project aims at improving living conditions of citizens through curbing overpopulation and improving population characteristics.

The project will work through many axes; economic empowerment, service intervention: reproductive health services, cultural and educational intervention, digital transformation and legislative intervention.

The minister updated the cabinet on steps to be carried out in each axis to be able to achieve women’s economic empowerment and raise citizens’ awareness of the social and economic effects of overpopulation.

She said a unified electronic platform was launched to follow up on all activities of the project and link all services provided by the participating bodies to the Egyptian family.
