Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli asserted the government’s full support of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) in line with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives.

During his inspection tour of East Port Said Industrial Zone on Tuesday, the premier said the government gives priority to the industrial zones, stimulates investment in them, localizes the targeted industries there, encourages the private sector to pump more investments to implement and establish many projects, along with benefiting from the integration between these industrial zones and ports.

He also stressed the importance of establishing logistical zones that in turn will contribute to facilitating the movement of goods.

At the beginning of his tour, Madbouli listened to a detailed explanation about East Port Said Industrial Zone, which is built on an area of 63 km2, and occupies a strategic location on the eastern bank of the Suez Canal. The industrial zone is also located directly on the waterway, some 10 km away.

Many soil improvement works, road networks and utilities are being carried out in the industrial zone, in addition to developing gates and completing the electronic system in the area, which contributes to qualifying it to receive and attract investments in many sectors.

For his part, Deputy chairman of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Ahmed el Esnawy said that nine berths in East Port Said Port have been completed by the authority.

Eight trading yards are being implemented, on an area of 225,000 square meters, he noted.
