Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli issued directives to finalize ongoing projects in Sharm El Sheikh, in preparation for the UN climate change conference (COP27) in November.

The premier’s instructions came during a meeting that he held on Tuesday with South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouda and Deputy Governor Enas Samir to follow up on the implementation status of the underway projects in Sharm El Sheikh, within the arrangements for the UN climate conference.

The South Sinai governor reviewed the progress in executing a number of projects, including the establishment of solar energy plants, a central park and the new Sharm El Sheikh City Council building, in addition to constructing new roads.

Fouda posted the prime minister on the progress made in the first phase of a project aimed at activating the visual identity of the city, as well as the expansion of Sharm El Sheikh airport.

The governor mentioned that 12 petrol stations, as well as the stops of microbuses and buses in Sharm El Sheikh would be equipped with electric vehicle charging units.

The meeting also tackled the progress made in digitizing financial services and the new garbage collection system, as well as an initiative for replacing aging vehicles with new ones that run on natural gas.
