President El-Sisi Meets Angola’s Minister of Foreign Affairs

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met  on Tuesday 29/3/2022 with Angola’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Téte António.

The meeting was attended by Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry, Angola’s Minister of Youth and Sports Ana Paula Neto, and Angola’s Ambassador to Egypt Nelson Manuel.

The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the President asked for his greetings to be conveyed to President João Lourenço, stressing the importance that Egypt attaches to strengthening relations Angola across various fields, particularly trade and investment, in addition to security and military cooperation, as well as technical cooperation and capacity building.

President El-Sisi referred to Egypt’s keenness to maximize coordination and consultation with the Angolan side and President Lourenço, regarding means to strengthen the mechanisms of joint African action, whether institutional, political or developmental, so as to achieve the growth and stability to which African countries aspire.

Mr. António expressed his honor to meet with the President and delivered a letter from the president of Angola, in which he affirmed his country’s aspiration to develop bilateral relations and advance the frameworks of joint cooperation between the two countries at the official and popular levels, especially in the fields of economy and trade.

This is in addition to lauding the President’s active role in addressing African issues, especially within the framework of efforts to advance development in the continent and maintain peace and security.

This is while emphasizing that Angola looks forward to working with Egypt to confront the various challenges facing the continent, which require concerted African efforts by activating joint African action mechanisms, especially at the level of the African Union.

The Spokesman added that during the meeting views were exchanged on a number of regional issues of common interest as well as ways for concerted efforts between the two countries to combat terrorism and extremism in Africa.

This shall take place by strengthening security cooperation between the relevant agencies in the two countries, and in coordination with relevant continental efforts, in order to confront this transnational scourge.
