President El-Sisi meets Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Tuesday 29/3/2022 with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, in the presence of Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Sameh Shoukry and Head of the General Intelligence Service Major General Abbas Kamel. Qatar’s Minister of Finance of H.E. Mr. Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Director of Qatar’s State Security Mr. Abdullah Al-Khulaifi and Qatari Ambassador to Egypt Salem bin Mubarak Al Shafi also attended the meeting.

The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that President El-Sisi welcomed the visit by the Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs to Cairo, asking to have his greetings conveyed to his brother His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar.

The President praised the tangible progress in the course of Egyptian-Qatari relations, which would contribute to serving the interests of the two states and peoples and strengthening efforts to maintain security and stability in the Arab region.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani expressed his honor to meet with President El-Sisi.

 He conveyed to the President the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, his keenness to consolidate the close brotherly ties between the two countries so as to reinforce the region’s security and stability, as well as his appreciation for the President’s efforts to advance joint Arab action and safeguard regional peace and security at this critical phase, during which challenges are magnified. 

The Spokesman added that the meeting covered means to enhance bilateral relations at various levels and touched on the regional issues and developments of mutual interest.

President El-Sisi confirmed the connection between the Gulf’s security and Egypt’s national security. He lauded the significant role played by the State of Qatar to confront the challenges facing the Arab nation.

The Qatari minister of foreign affairs valued Egypt’s pivotal role in the region, as a cornerstone for the Arab world’s security and stability, lauding its keenness to enhance solidarity among the Arab countries and promote joint Arab action.
