Jordan’s purchases of electric energy last year went up 5.8 percent, while sold electricity rose by 6.0 percent, according to National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) data. The data released Saturday showed that the company’s sales were at 20,446.3 GWh in 2022, while purchased power stood at 20,763.2 GWh. Sales were as follows: 19,811.7 GWh to the three distribution companies, 303 GWh to large subscribers, 191.5 energy exported to Al-Quds Company (Jericho) at 184.9 GWh and 6.6 to the Iraqi border post (Trebil), the company said. As for electricity purchases, they were: 15,518 GWh from traditional generation sources, 993 from the oil shale Atarat project, 3,970.5 GWh from renewable energy projects, 19.1 from the King Talal Dam, and 0.1 from the Indo-Jordan Chemicals Co, according to the data, Imported electricity from Egypt amounted to 262.5 GWh in 2022, said JEPCO.
