Runner Yazan Saleh breaks world record for squat exercise

Runner Yazan Saleh broke the Guinness World Record for squatting, moving the lower body by performing 222 movements in two minutes and 58 seconds, breaking the previous record of 206 movements in 3 minutes.

Saleh managed to break the record during an attempt he made at Tishreen University, in the presence of a large audience and before a committee approved by the Guinness World Records.

“I was able to break the record after extensive training, and this achievement will motivate me to obtain more achievements with exercises commensurate with my abilities and physical fitness that I acquired from various practiced sports previously” Saleh said in a statement to SANA.

Saleh, a student at the College of Education, who is currently working as a physical trainer in Hitten youth team, broke the world record in a previous attempt to pull a 3-ton car over a distance of 100 meters in a time of less than one minute and 30 seconds.

Saleh practiced a number of sports, namely swimming, bow and arrow, basketball, long jump and triple jump, in which he achieved many gold medals in the championships of the Republic through his participation with al-Jaish Club.
