Russia hands over proof of UK’s link to Black Sea attack to British envoy — diplomat

The Russian Ambassador to the UK Andrey Kelin said that Russia handed over evidence of London’s involvement in an attack on the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol to British Ambassador in Moscow Deborah Bronnert.

TASS News agency quoted Kelin as saying “The evidence on the participation of British special forces in preparations for the action against the Sevastopol Fleet has been delivered to the British ambassador and to the military attache of Britain,”.

Earlier on Thursday, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Bronnert to protest against the active involvement of British military specialists in training Ukrainian forces for sabotage activities in the Black Sea.

The ministry pointed out to the British envoy that such hostilities “threaten to escalate the situation and could lead to unpredictable and dangerous consequences.” In particular, the Russian Foreign Ministry specified that the UK had trained minesweeper crews for Ukraine and provided Kiev with a certain number of unmanned underwater vehicles.

In a statement, the ministry mentioned a 2020 agreement between London and Kiev aimed at expanding British instructors’ activities to train Ukrainian military divers.
