Russian ruble rises against dollar and euro

The Russian ruble rose in today’s trading against the US dollar and the euro.

RT website reported that the dollar exchange rate fell by 17 kopecks to 83.82 rubles, the euro exchange rate fell by 82 kopecks to 91.83 rubles, and the Russian Stock Exchange’s ruble-denominated stock index fell by 1.53 percent to 2745.14 points, while the dollar-denominated stock index RTS fell by 1.84 percent to 1032.18 points.

The Russian currency is rising against the dollar and the euro after Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian government to transfer payments for natural gas exports from Russia to Europe to the ruble currency instead of the euro during the past weeks.
