DUBAI: Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology and the Chairwoman of the Emirates Schools Establishment, has met the graduates of the ‘Knowledge Creators’ programme at the 1 Billion Followers Summit.

The programme, launched by the New Media Academy in collaboration with the Emirates Schools Establishment, aims to train 100 students and 100 teachers to create 5,000 innovative educational content for social media.

Al Amiri met graduates on the sidelines of the second edition of the 1 Billion Followers Summit, taking place from 10th-11th January 2024, at the iconic Emirates Towers and Museum of the Future. Held under the theme ‘Get Connected’, the summit brings together 7,000 attendees, including more than 3,000 content creators who collectively attracted more than 1.6 billion followers.

Sarah Al Amiri said the ‘Knowledge Creators’ programme represents a unique initiative to enrich the Arabic educational content on social media. She added, ‘We aim to equip students and t
eachers with skills to present cutting-edge educational content that enhances the learning experience and caters to the modern academic requirements.’

Al Amiri noted that ‘the programme seeks to provide advanced media training that empowers teachers and students to produce innovative educational content for social media and promote edutainment.’

The holistic programme covers storytelling, creative script writing, filming and producing video clips, publishing content that caters to various social media platforms, and analysing social media content.

Alia Al Hammadi, CEO of the New Media Academy, stressed the programme’s role in providing talented students and teachers with the necessary skills and tools that enable them to publish unique and creative educational content, boosting the UAE’s position as a leading digital media hub on the global sphere.

Al Hammadi added, ‘The collaboration between the New Media Academy and Emirates Schools Establishment represents a major step in enriching educational content
published on digital platforms and expanding positive communication channels with the young generation. The programme aims to present content that responds to the rapidly changing digital platforms and meets the aspirations and interests of young social media users.’

The ‘Knowledge Creators’ programme seeks to enable teachers and students to publish creative content on basic school subjects in a manner that expands their outreach and ability to communicate with the public.
