Foreign Minister and President-designate of the 2022 UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) Sameh Shoukry headed Monday evening to the Swedish capital, Stockholm.
During his visit, Shoukry will take part in the proceedings of the sixth ministerial meeting on climate, which will also see the participation of a host of high-level officials, including the executive vice-president of the European Commission responsible for Climate Change along with the Canadian environment and climate change minister.
Shoukry is scheduled to shed light on Egypt’s viewpoints towards climate action as well as the priorities that will be focused on during the coming period, as part of efforts to implement the goals of the Paris Agreement on climate change and prepare for COP27, which will be hosted by Egypt in November, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez.
Shoukry will also meet with his Swedish counterpart Ann Linde to discuss a host of issues, including ways of boosting bilateral ties as well as cooperation between the two countries in the various spheres, topped by development, investment, trade, tourism and green transition, added the spokesman.
