Sisi at cathedral: Egypt’s New Republic is for dream, hope, science, work

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has asserted that the New Republic embraces all the Egyptians without discrimination as he greeted the Coptic Christians on the Christmas on Thursday 6/1/2022.

“It is the republic of dream and hope, the republic of science and work, the capable republic not the aggressive one, the peaceful and not submissive,” Sisi told crowds of Christians gathering to attend the Eastern Christmas mass at the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in the New Administrative Capital, located east of Cairo.

“Any challenge or difficulty will be easy as long as Egyptians are united,” he said, warning against sedition among the Egyptian people.

President Sisi offered greetings to Pope Tawadros II on the Christmas. “Happy New Year. I hope the New Year will be a year of love, mercy and peace for all,” he told the merry gathering.

“We have taken a way in which we promised the God and promised you, and we started it and will complete it together,” he said.

The president asserted “the unity of the Egyptians can overcome difficulties and challenges”, calling on the Egyptians not to allow anyone to drive a wedge among them.

The president said “he hopes God helps him be an honest servant to this nation and all Egyptians.”

He praised Pope Tawadros as having “great value” for everyone. “Men are judged through their stances and during hard circumstances,” he said.

The president expressed hope that all Egyptians will be safe from the coronavirus pandemic.

He said that he wanted to shake hands with all the attendees at the cathedral, but the pandemic is an obstacle.

Pope Tawadros II led the Christmas mass that was attended by senior state officials, diplomats governors, representatives of Al Azhar and the Awqaf Ministry.
