Social solidarity minister meets Finnish ambassador

The Social Solidarity Ministry is adopting the human rights principles, reducing multidimensional poverty through a fully-integrated system and promoting women’s rights, affirmed Minister Nivine Riad El-Kabbag.

During her meeting Sunday with Finnish Ambassador in Cairo Pekka Kosonen, Kabbag added that her ministry is giving great attention to protecting orphans, people with special needs, irregular workers and families living below poverty line.

Kabbag, meanwhile, briefed the Finnish ambassador on the programs implemented by the ministry in social protection, economic empowerment and social care.

The meeting also focused on improving services which cover the most vulnerable groups in society and expanding in the economic empowerment programs, especially that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi places special importance to such programs.

The meeting tackled ways of boosting bilateral ties between Egypt and Finland in the various spheres.

The Finnish ambassador, for his part, said that his country have deep work experience in the inclusion of children with special needs, alternative care of children and early childhood development.

Finland is willing to share its expertise with Egypt, especially in fields of economic empowerment for women, protecting children and empowering the most marginalized groups, added the ambassador.

He, meanwhile, voiced keenness on promoting fruitful cooperation between the two countries, saying that he is ready to dispatch specialized experts to the ministry.
