KHARTOUM, March 12 (KUNA) — The Sovereignty Council of Sudan announced earlier on Sunday the formation of a joint security council to follow up on the situation in the country.

According to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA), this announcement came after a late meeting between President of the council General Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan and his Deputy Mohammad Hamdan Dagalo, the commander of the Rapid Support Forces.

The joint security committee gathers regular security forces, state entities related to security, and members of the armed forces, indicated the announcement without further elaborating.

The Burhan-Dagalo meeting came hours after an army spokesman affirmed that the military would fulfill its obligations towards the political process in the country, enabling the democratic transition in the country.

Last December, leaders of the military and civil factions agreed on a two-stage political process in which leadership was transferred to civilians.
