At least six people lost their lives while several others received injuries in a suicide blast near the Foreign Ministry in the Afghan capital of Kabul city on Monday, said officials.

Khalid Zadran, spokesman for the Kabul security department, said in a statement to media that at least six civilians were killed and several others, including three Islamic Emirate forces, were wounded in the suicide attack near a security checkpoint in Malik Azghar Square in Kabul.

According to the initial reports, the blast occurred on Foreign Ministry’s road near the Daudzai Trade Center.

A foreign NGO run hospital confirmed receiving 12 wounded people including a child.

The targeted area is home to several important government buildings and foreign embassies.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

Earlier in January, at least five people lost their lives and several others were wounded in a blast-targeting ministry of foreign affairs employees as they were going home after the working hours. (end) sbk.lr
