Syria, Iraq to unify stances to get water rights for the two countries

Damascus- Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, Mehdi Rashid al-Hamdani, affirmed on Wednesday the work to boost cooperation between Syria and Iraq in the fields of water and water energies and to unify stances to obtain the water rights of the two countries.

“The visit comes to complete the discussions and work to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the field of water,” Minister al- Hamdani said in a statement to SANA upon his arrival at Damascus international airport on a visit to Syria.

For his part, Minister of Water Resources, Tammam Ra’ad, stressed the importance of cooperation between Syria and neighboring countries in the water sector and to share the damage affected by climate change and its direct effects on the region.
