Telecom Egypt announces finalizing new route of fiber cables

Telecom Egypt announced finalizing new route for fiber optic internet cables between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean through Al Morshedeen Road.

The route is recognized as the shortest as the linking drop-off points in Suez and Port Said stood at about 200 kilometers.

In a statement on Thursday, Telecom Egypt said the project is part of a cooperation protocol signed with the Suez Canal Authority that was signed in March 2021.

The company highlighted fruitful cooperation with all state bodies concerned to take advantage of the unique geographical location of Suez Canal through creating several secure land routes on Al Morshedeen Road to further Egypt’s development and pivotal role in the ICT industry.

The project aims to strengthen Egypt’s international position as a major crossing point for international communications between Asia, Africa and Europe.
