Baghdad, The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) refused to postpone the parliamentary elections in the region, stressing the necessity of holding them during this year.

The KRG stated in a statement: “The PM of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, met today with a delegation from the US Senate, and during the meeting they discussed ways to strengthen relations between Iraq and America, and the importance of resolving problems between the governments of the center and the region under the umbrella of the constitution.”

It added: “The main axis of the meeting dealt with the reforms implemented by the ninth ministerial formation, including reforms in the joints of the Ministry of Peshmerga, diversification of revenue sources, electronic transformation in public services, the advancement of the agricultural sector and the export of local products to foreign markets, as well as discussing the importance of holding parliamentary elections.”

The Prime Minister stressed that there is no justification for postponing the electoral process, stressing that it will be held this year, as the Kurdistan Regional Government provides all facilities and takes the necessary preparations in this regard.
