– Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya said that there are insensible calls to launch marches and organize protests in the border areas with Palestine. “These areas are areas of operations in which the armed forces are located and have rules of engagement – launch warnings and then fire – and their duty is to prevent infiltration into and from the Kingdom’s lands, hence the prevention of such marches in these areas to spare Jordanian citizens from danger,” Al-Faraya said in statements prior to chairing the Security Council meeting in the Capital Governorate on Wednesday. He explained that there are sensitive areas inside Amman, such as: the Dakhilya Circle and the Fourth Circle, which affect public life, calling on demonstrators to avoid those vital areas. “I understand that everyone is sad about what is happening in the Gaza Strip, and what happened in the Baptist Hospital is a heinous crime that requires accountability. I urge everyone to exercise restraint and continue to preserve public and private property during marches and protests against the aggression against Gaza,” Al-Faraya added. He pointed out that His Majesty King Abdullah and HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, confirmed that bombing the Baptist Hospital was a heinous war crime. He lauded the great effort made by His Majesty the King since the first day of the aggression on Gaza, saying: “His Majesty the King took action from the beginning of the crisis and clearly defined the problem and referred to the Israeli occupation as its basis. He also conducted regional and international communications that resulted in the formation of international public opinion in solidarity with what is happening in the Gaza Strip, including the destruction, bombing, and killing of innocent people.” The King, according to Al-Faraya, stressed the importance of stopping the aggression against Gaza immediately, and bringing urgent humanitarian medical and relief aid into the Gaza Strip. He added that under royal directives, an urgent relief aircraft was dispatched to the Gaza Strip, and it arrived at Al-Arish International Airport, and then to the Rafah border crossing, waiting for the border crossing to be opened to enter the Strip. He said that His Majesty directed the government, despite the difficult economic situation that the Kingdom is suffering from, to allocate JD3 million to UNRWA, which is suffering from financial hardship, to continue providing its services to the people of Gaza. In addition, the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) launched a campaign to provide relief to the people of Gaza. He also reiterated that the Palestinian cause is Jordan’s central cause, indicating that the King said in his speeches before the United Nations General Assembly and the opening of the regular session of the Parliament that “in Jordan our compass is Palestine.” Al-Faraya pointed out that the Gaza Strip needs two tracks from Jordan: The first track is official, led by His Majesty the King, to stop the war on Gaza, prevent the displacement of its residents from their lands, and bring humanitarian medical and relief aid into the Strip. The second track, according to Al-Faraya, relates to citizens’ expression of the anger, pain and resentment they feel about the war taking place in the Gaza Strip against innocent people. In this regard, he stated that His Majesty the King’s directives from the first day of the war on Gaza were that “freedom of expression is the sky’s limit, and citizens have the freedom to exercise it on a daily basis, especially in light of the human tragedy in the Gaza Strip, to pressure the world to stop the war on the Strip.” Al-Faraya expressed his appreciation for the Jordanians’ supportive stances and assistance to the Palestinian brothers in Gaza. He stressed that the solidarity marches were allowed, and will remain everywhere, and they have reflected the unity of the Jordanians and their support to His Majesty the King to pressure the countries of the world to stop the war on Gaza. according to Al-Faraya called for paying attention to posts and calls on social media outlets by extremist figures calling for clashes with the police and explaining to citizens the mechanism for making Molotov cocktails with the aim of reaching the borders and the Jordan Valley. Al-Faraya commended the security apparatuses role in protecting the security and safety of citizens during the marches, urging their personnel to exercise the highest levels of restraint when dealing with protests in which citizens express their anger at what is happening in the Gaza Strip. The meeting was attended by Minister of Government Communications, and the Government spokesperson, Muhannad Mubaidin, and administrative governors in the governorates via teleconference.
