Trade and Industry Minister Niveen Gamea said on Saturday 25/12/2021 that the State works on providing 20 industrial zones with utilities in Upper Egypt at a cost of 2.8 billion pounds, in addition to four others in Qena and Sohag at 3.2 billion pounds.
During the inauguration of development projects in Upper Egypt with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attending, Gamea said executive plans were developed to upgrade and raise the efficiency of industrial zones in the Upper Egyptian governorates.
The minister said that the 20 industrial zones are expected to be fully supplied with utilities by the end of 2022, pointing out that 234 investment opportunities were identified in Upper Egypt at an expected cost of one million to 25 million pounds, depending on the nature of each project.
EGP 16 billion pounds were pumped to finance 827,000 projects in Upper Egypt from 2014 to 2021, she noted.
The State injected EGP 563 million to establish 21,000 small and micro-sized enterprises, which provided 38,000 jobs, as part of the Decent Life initiative, the minister noted.
Of all 13 industrial complexes spread nationwide, 10 complexes were established in Upper Egypt, she said.
The trade minister said that facilitation was provided for investors willing to rent units in the industrial complexes upon directives of President Sisi.
She said that the number of banks participating in the financing initiatives increased from five to eight banks, in addition to the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency.
The complex of small and medium-sized industries in Beni Suef accommodates 266 units, and its construction cost exceeded 900 million pounds, she noted.
Meanwhile, the industrial complexes in Minya, Qena and Luxor are made up of 68, 420 and 206 units respectively, the minister said.
The minister said that the second phase of the Roubiki Leather City was completed and wok is in full swing to establish 100 other factories.
She pointed that the State solved many problems facing the manufacturers in the city to help them improve the quality of their products.
