Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday welcomed Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani with an official ceremony in the capital Ankara.

Erdogan and al-Sudani will hold one-on-one talks at the presidential complex, followed by inter-delegation meetings and a joint news conference, according to the Türkiye’s Communications Directorate.

The leaders will exchange views on Türkiye-Iraq relations, fight against terrorism, and Iraq’s reconstruction and joint steps aimed at improving cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the areas of trade and energy, it added.

They will also discuss regional and global issues.

Several agreements are expected to be signed during the meetings to contribute to the contractual basis of bilateral ties.

Türkiye strongly supports territorial integrity, sovereignty and political unity of Iraq.
