ANKARA, Wednesday, March 8, 2023 (WAFA) – Turkiye strongly condemned Israel’s military assault on the northern West Bank city of Jenin last night and the killing of six Palestinians.
‘We condemn in the strongest terms the increased aggression and acts of violence by the Israeli forces and Israeli settlers in the West Bank,’ said a Turkish Foreign Ministry statement, stressing that the killing of six Palestinians in Jenin and ‘the acts of violence and intimidation by Israeli settlers against the Palestinian residents of the town of Hawara in the West Bank are unacceptable.’
The Foreign Ministry said ‘These increased attacks and actions feed the spiral of violence, further escalating the tension in the region, and most importantly, damage the international efforts aiming at de-escalating tension, at a period when the holy month of Ramadan is approaching.’
It called for putting an end to these attacks and preventing violence, inviting at the same time the Israeli Government ‘to act with common sense and responsibility.’
