As part of the innovative activities of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) and beyond 2023-2026, the UAE University (UAEU), in cooperation with the Khadamat Facilities Management, held a scientific workshop on ‘Best Practices to Achieve Sustainability at UAEU Campus,’ within Green Zone, Expo City Dubai.

In the presence of Professor Dr. Ahmed Murad – Associate Provost for Research, representatives from universities, facilities management teams, students, employees, faculty members, and industry stakeholders, as part of the UAEU road map initiatives for its participation in COP28.

Professor Ahmed Murad – Associate Provost for Research, explained, ‘The UAE University works with partners to achieve the highest scientific standards and best practices to achieve a sustainable university campus. This workshop is a distinguished model in partnership with the private sector, to achieve common goals that serve our national priorities.’

Murad added, ‘The workshop aims to shed light on the best practices for co
nserving water and energy in academic institutions, housing, and student facilities. It discussed many topics that provided smart solutions for a carbon-neutral service delivery model. It also presented a practical model of best practices that can be applied by universities and other institutions. It will ultimately lead to reducing the ‘carbon footprint’ at the state level.’

Ahmad Al-Atrash the General Manager of Khadamat Facilities stressed that the company is working to develop many innovative solutions for energy management on the university campus.

He stressed the company’s keenness to apply the best effective practices in asset management and environmental and social governance standards through technological integration and environmental supervision to achieve innovative strategies for a sustainable future.

Khadamat Facilities Management presented a number of topics during the workshop: introducing the company and its vision, in addition to a number of innovative initiatives such as the ‘Energy Mana
gement Initiative’ on campus, and waste management.

Khadamat Facilities Management also reviewed ‘Smart solutions’, the latest technical and technological systems in service management, and the best practical and effective practices on asset management, environmental and social governance, innovation and technological integration, in addition to sustainability and environmental control.
