RAMALLAH: RAMALLAH, Monday, March 18, 2024 (WAFA) – The UN Special Rapporteur on the protection of the right to freedom of opinion, Irene Khan, said today Israel has ignored the rules of international law with regard to its treatment of journalists in Gaza.

We must all take a serious stand to hold Israel accountable for its crimes against journalists in the Gaza Strip, she said in statements to media.

she said it is shocking to see Gaza journalists treated in this way, noting that the number of journalists killed in Gaza exceeds the number of all journalists killed in all previous conflicts.

The occupation army detained today a group of journalists while they were performing their work inside the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City, and took them to an unknown destination after harassing and beating them.

The Israeli aggression has killed 135 journalists and media professionals since the start of the Israeli aggression on October 7 of last year.
