NEW YORK: The UN Security Council postponed to tomorrow, Wednesday, voting on a resolution drafted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.

On December 8th, despite immense efforts by the Secretary-General and invoking Article 99 of the UN Charter, which grants him the responsibility to ‘bring to the attention’ of the Security Council any matter that in his opinion may threaten the maintenance of international peace and security, US vetoed a resolution urging for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.
