Education min. probes coop. for boosting pre-university education with Germany

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi supports an initiative to establish German-style schools in Egypt, similar to the Egyptian-Japanese schools built nationwide, Minister of Education and Technical Education Reda Hegazy said Saturday 29/10/2022.

Hegazy was speaking during a meeting with German Ambassador in Cairo Frank Hartmann and a delegation from the German Bundestag’s subcommittee on culture and education policy affairs, led by Michael Müller of the Social Democratic Party, to discuss aspects of educational cooperation.

The minister also highlighted President Sisi’s interest in partnering with Germany to promote technical education and vocational training cooperation.

He applauded examples of successful cooperation with the German government, topped by projects funded by the KfW Development Bank to improve quality of education, and establishing the Egyptian National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation (ETQAAN) for technical and vocational education and training, among others.

Meanwhile, the German diplomat stressed that Egypt is an important partner to Germany which is willing to provide all support to President Sisi’s initiative and contribute to better technical education in Egypt.

For his part, Deputy Minster of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Megahed said the ministry is moving fast forward towards improving technical education and vocational training.

He noted that the number of technical education students is on the increase every year due to an increased interest among students in that type of education that helps them acquire special skills required by local as well as international labor market.
