Agriculture Minister Khaled Hanifat on Saturday discussed during a visit to Romania prospects of expanding relations between the two countries, particularly trade in farm produce. The ministry said in a statement that Hanifat, who led a delegation, met with Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Petre Daea and Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Marcel Ciolacu to discuss economic ties and ways of cementing cooperation, particularly in agricultural trade, fertilizers, pesticides, veterinary medicines and Jordanian vegetables. The delegation visited major companies in the agricultural field in Prahova County, which showed an interest in some Jordanian agricultural products, said the statement. They wrapped up the visit with holding a second meeting of the Agricultural Technical Committee, where the two sides signed a protocol to expand cooperation and identify new cooperation opportunities in the fields of: animal husbandry, agricultural marketing, food product quality and safety, plant and animal health and agricultural extension. The two sides also agreed to run training courses in veterinary health for Jordanian experts and open markets for Jordanian agricultural products, such as potash fertilizers, phosphates, pesticides, vegetables and fruits, the statement added.
