The S&P 500 and Nasdaq rebounded from the previous day’s losses to finish in positive territory as US stocks closed Wednesday mixed.

The S&P 500 rose just five points, or 0.14%, to finish the day nearly flat at 3,992. The tech-heavy Nasdaq added 45 points, or 0.4%, to 11,576.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average, on the other hand, fell 58 points, or 0.18%, to close the session at 32,798.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 2.4% to 19.12, while the 10-year US Treasury yield rose 0.1% to 3.980%.

The dollar index added 0.05% to 105.66, while the euro was flat at $1.0545 against the greenback.

Precious metals were mixed, with gold up 0.05% at $1,814 per ounce but silver falling 0.2% to $20.03.

Crude oil prices were down around 1%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $82.53 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $76.55.
