Syria provides all facilitations to fulfill electricity connection agreement between Lebanon and Jordan, Minister says

Electricity Minister, Ghassan al-Zamel, said that Syria provides all facilitations to fulfill electricity connection agreement between Lebanon and Jordan through the Syrian network to supply Lebanon with part of its energy needs from Jordan in accordance with an agreement signed between the three countries on October 6th,2021.

“I conveyed to Lebanese President, Michel Aoun, during my meeting with him, President Bashar Al-Assad’s greetings, and we clarified President al-Assad’s directives to provide all assistance and facilitations to carry out this project, Minister al-Zamel said in a press conference with his Lebanese counterpart Walid Fayyad in Beirut.

He added “We have done all our best since the first meeting to make the connection power line ready at the end of 2021.”

For his part, the Lebanese Minister said “we will sign tomorrow an energy transmission agreement from Jordan to Lebanon via Syria”, stressing the importance of this agreement in rebuilding historical partnerships among the Arab brothers and securing additional electricity to Lebanon.
