Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Basma bint Talal, the United Nations Women’s Goodwill Ambassador, the activities of the 11th edition of the Women’s Film Week festival kicked off on Sunday evening at the Rainbow Cinemas in Amman.

In a pre-recorded speech, Princess Basma said that choosing innovation and technology as a theme to celebrate Women’s Film Week this year reflects the importance of technology that provides valuable opportunities for everyone, including marginalized groups, which often include women.

Film screenings are being held under the theme “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality,” as part of the United Nations celebration of International Women’s Day.

She urged women to employ technology to serve their causes and enhance their understanding in this field and work to address technical illiteracy among women everywhere, pointing to the benefits women gained in the field of online education.

She pointed out the need to address the misuse of technology, which includes bullying women online and strengthen the role of the concerned authorities and companies in this field.

Princess Basma thanked the United Nations Women’s Commission for organizing the Women’s Film Week, lauding the role of the Royal Film Commission of Jordan and those responsible for the success of this important annual event.
