Cairo marathon comes as part of Sisi’s directives to help Egyptians do sports, says min.

Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi said on Sunday that his ministry’s support for the Cairo Marathon, scheduled to kick off on Friday, comes as part of directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to offer more opportunities for all Egyptians to do sports.

Speaking at a press conference to announce details of the 9th Cairo Marathon, the minister said that all sectors of the ministry will work with the private sector to make sure that this event will be regularly held in the coming years.

The marathon will be organized across the streets of the ancient Heliopolis neighborhood to support mental and psychological health, the minister noted.

The event is co-organized by Cairo Runners, the first running troupe in Egypt, and ievents, Egypt’s leading event management company.
